St. Vincent Distillers Ltd., nestled at the foothills of the La Soufrière volcano, stands as the island’s sole rum producer and a proud custodian of long-standing rum-making heritage. Originating from the Mt. Bentinck Estate distillery founded over a century ago, the distillery continues to embody the craftsmanship and character of Vincentian rum. Today, under the ownership of family-run C.K. Greaves & Company, St. Vincent Distillers has evolved into a modern operation, producing award-winning rums with distinctive flavour profiles shaped by volcanic-filtered spring water and time-honoured distilling traditions.
Visitors to the distillery can explore where the island’s famous Sunset Very Strong Rum, renowned for its 84.5% ABV and global accolades is produced, alongside smoother offerings such as SLR White Rum and the aged Captain Bligh XO, named World’s Best Rum in 2014. Modernized facilities and a dedicated team keep production running year-round, while guided tours showcase the fascinating process from molasses to barrel-aged spirit.
Beyond its celebrated rums, St. Vincent Distillers is a reflection of the island’s resilience and creativity; linking local culture, craftsmanship, and the growing tourism sector. As part of the Caribbean Rum Trail, the distillery offers not just a tasting experience, but a glimpse into the spirit of St. Vincent itself: authentic, welcoming, and proudly Caribbean.
