Barbados
About Us

Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery was established in 1893 by George Stade, a genius mind and distiller with numerous patents to his name. On the pristine Brighton Beach of Barbados he began realizing his dream; to distill the best rum in the world. His rum quickly became renowned for its excellence, gaining local and international recognition. “Stade’s rum” became a shorthand for premium Barbados rum.

Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery is a family-owned rum distillery with a team of experts. The distillery stands as the backbone of Barbadian rum heritage with a treasure trove of archives located in a safe room named “The Distiller’s Vault” and venerable stills. Looking after the past and working for the future the distillery is the 1st BONSUCRO certified distillery in the Caricom.

A passionate Barbadian team preserves this precious heritage with advanced technical distilling proficiency while actively furthering the research and experimentation in Barbadian rum-making. The distillery is committed to contributing positively to the island’s community and economy with a sustainable business model that highlights Barbados richness and history.

Today, Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery proudly represents Barbados rum in more than 100 countries, with their brands Plantation Rum & Stade’s Rum. Recognized for its excellence, the Plantation X0 20th Anniversary gained international fame and won over 50 awards in the world’s most prestigious competitions, making it the most awarded rum in the world.

The beachfront distillery will soon open its doors to the public.
